Days 224, 225, and 226, Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th, and Sunday 5th November
Wake-up call at 5am and breakfast served on the terrace at 5.30am. Hippo swimming nearby. Game drive in the Lower Zambezi National park. Lunch back the lodge followed by afternoon tea and dinner. Bottomless food and drinks available. Game drives early morning and evening. A canoe safari was a particular highlight for me. Very unnerving being in a canoe with crocs swimming close by with their beady eyes watching.
On the Saturday we had an early morning game drive and saw lions sleeping in the shade. Such a treat on the wedding day. The wedding blessing took place around 2pm in the bush alongside Chongwe River. Arrived by boat. The camp had done a superb job pulling everything together. It was very special. Bishop Sydney Mulenga officiated the blessing. We then went back into the Lower Zambezi national park for photos by a large baobab tree around 2,000 years old. Drinks and nibbles on the Zambezi river edge with a sunset boat cruise. Dinner in the evening with wedding cake and some Zambian style dancing.
